① THE SYSTEM COLLAPSE — Blurred Scans & Missing Pages

CBSE introduced OSM for Class 12 in 2026 — answer sheets scanned and evaluated digitally. The rollout failed catastrophically: tens of thousands of illegible blurred scans were marked with arbitrary red ticks. Students receiving photocopies via re-evaluation found crucial pages missing, duplicated, or whole answer books belonging to different students attached to their roll numbers. Evaluators reported software crashes, submission failures, and intense daily quotas that prioritised speed over accuracy.

② THE VENDOR CONTROVERSY — Coempt Edu Teck (formerly Globarena)

The selected vendor, Coempt Edu Teck, had previously wrecked evaluation systems in Telangana in 2019 and 2023 — incidents that resulted in student suicides and judicial intervention. Critics including Rahul Gandhi flagged that CBSE floated the OSM tender three times, progressively relaxing requirements each round — dropping robotic scanner mandates, lowering scan resolution standards, and reducing CMMI certification thresholds — until Coempt qualified. Scans showed paper fold shadows suggesting mobile phone scanning, not machines. CBSE maintained it followed General Financial Rules and awarded to the lowest qualified bidder. The CEO of Coempt said prior Telangana matters were resolved by the High Court.

③ DATA LEAK & CYBER THREATS — 20 Lakh Students' Sheets Exposed

Post-results, Class 12 answer sheets and personal data of an estimated 20 lakh students appeared in the public domain. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh called it a "massive data leak" exposing student privacy. When CBSE finally launched its re-evaluation portal on June 2 (delayed from May 29 due to "technical issues"), it reported ~15 lakh hostile hits within 2 minutes — alleged coordinated cyber attacks. CBSE simultaneously abolished post-result mark verification, removing the very safety valve students needed most.
